CLARICE CLIFF, “FERNDALE”, a really unusual pattern and also this example is marked underneath which a large, exaggerated, hand-painted “S”, denoting it as a “sample” piece for the pattern...and you can see the remnants of a ‘CROCUS’ back-stamp underneath too which endorses this ‘sample’ piece for this rare landscape pattern.

It’s beautifully painted in the unusual pastel blue shades with the interior ‘delicia’ dribble runnings too. There’s no chips, cracks or repairs, just some minor oxidisation, common on the blue due to high lead content in that colour in the 1930’s.
